Do you or your children enjoy video games?

If so, Atari just announced that Austin will be home to one of their new video game themed hotels.

The video game industry has taken the world by storm. With forecasts predicting revenue to top 230 billion by the year 2022 there are many new players getting into the industry.

Atari, while not a new player themselves, has started a new line of video game themed hotels. Up until their recent announcement these hotels were limited to the China mainland. Fortunately for video game and tech fans in the United States this is no longer the case.

Atari has announced that it will be building hotels in 8 American cities. And since Austin is the amazing city that it is, we are lucky enough to be one of those cities!

These hotels will feature virtual and augmented reality throughout the building and will even have state-of-the-art venues for E-Sport (video game) events.

“When creating this brand-new hotel concept, we knew that Atari would be the perfect way to give guests the nostalgic and retro-meets-modern look and feel we were going for,” GSD Group’s Napoleon Smith III said in a statement. “Let’s face it, how cool will it be to stay inside an Atari?”, GSD Group CEO Shelly Murphy told CNN.

Even for the Austinites that are not fans of video games this announcement means a multi-million dollar development in Austin and the tourist revenue that comes with it!
