The Benefits for Financial Firms

Audit-Ready, All Year

Examinations and audits should be a review of what you already do, not a scramble. We maintain the patching records, access controls, backup evidence, and compliance documentation that GLBA and FFIEC-aligned reviews look for.

When the request list arrives, your answers are already organized, current, and backed by reporting.

Secure Every Office and Advisor

We extend, connect, and integrate your firm from one location to dozens, including advisors working from home or on the road.

Encrypted connections, managed devices, and central identity controls mean your team works securely from anywhere, as if they were sitting at headquarters.

Predictable, Fixed-Fee IT

Vintage IT Services offers guaranteed service levels at a guaranteed price, structured to reliably deliver uptime and reduce technology spending.

Preventive maintenance, monitoring, and best-practice management tools come together in one fixed monthly fee, so your technology budget is as predictable as your quarterly reporting.

Our support plans are available to financial firms with:

  • An on-premise network for firms that prefer to keep servers and client data in-house and onsite
  • A hybrid environment that mixes on-premise systems with hosted and cloud solutions
  • A fully cloud-based practice working in Microsoft 365, Azure, and hosted applications

Technology controls that support your obligations

Financial firms operate under supervision, and examiners ask about technology. We provide and maintain the controls; the regulatory obligations themselves remain yours, and we work alongside your compliance function rather than in place of it.

Vintage IT Services provides technology controls and evidence. Determining what your firm is required to do, and attesting to it, remains the responsibility of your compliance function.

Being able to show it, not just do it

The difference between a straightforward examination and a difficult one is usually evidence. Firms that struggle are rarely the ones without controls — they are the ones that cannot demonstrate the controls were operating consistently over the period in question.

That is a reporting problem as much as a security one. Managed IT produces a record as a by-product of doing the work: what was patched and when, who had access to what, when backups ran and whether restores were tested, what alerts were raised and how they were resolved. Assembling that after the fact is painful. Having it accumulate continuously is not.

Multiple offices and remote advisors

Financial firms frequently operate from more than one location, with advisors working from client sites and from home. The security position has to be consistent across all of it, which means managed devices, controlled access and monitoring that covers every endpoint rather than only those inside an office.

Continuity when systems are unavailable

A financial firm that cannot reach its systems cannot serve clients, and in some cases cannot meet obligations that do not pause because technology has failed. That makes recovery planning a business question rather than a technical one.

The work is specific: establishing how much data the firm can afford to lose, how long it can operate without particular systems, and what the order of restoration is when several things are down at once. Those answers drive the design. Backups are then tested by restoring from them rather than assumed to work, because an untested backup is a theory and an incident is a poor moment to test it.

Onboarding and departures

Access management is where examiners often begin, and where most firms have the widest gap between policy and practice. Joiners are usually handled well because somebody is waiting to start work. Departures are handled inconsistently, because nobody is waiting on them.

We apply a documented process to both, every time. Accounts, devices, licences and permissions are granted by role on arrival, and removed completely on departure with mailbox handling and data retention addressed rather than left open indefinitely.
